CERSAIE 2017 (2018 novelty)
Mediterranean attitude to life and pattern mix ceramically interpreted
Series Jasba-Pattern (decoration Salina):
Variety in harmony

The series Jasba-Pattern (decorations Vola and Mesh) was presented for the first time at the CERSAIE 2016. The extremely positive response showed that the stylistic devices used of patterns, decorations, symbols and ornaments still are in line with the current trend and the pattern mix resulting from that with its optimistic and cheerful look affects people emotionally. That is why another variant has been created now, which will be introduced into the market at the beginning of 2018. The source of inspiration and eponym for the new version Salina was the colourful pottery and ceramic art of the Liparic Islands in front of the north coast of Sicily in the Tyrrhenian Sea (Salina is one of a total of seven isles of this group of islands).

Salina abstractly captures this wealth of nuances and forms by not less than 22 different elaborate motifs, which show to their best advantage on the format of 20 x 20 centimetres. The tiles are supplied in bundles of 25 pieces, with the motifs intentionally being mixed at random, as this is also recommended for the laid surface according to the motto “variety in harmony“. The result is wall and floor coverings in a class of their own, which are fascinating thanks to their individuality, offer attractive creative scope and make every surface designed with these tiles a unique covering - exactly the right choice for globetrotters and “adventurers“, but also for those seeking calm or people having a sense and an eye for details. Despite its vivid and expressive look, Salina is suitable for diverse combinations with other materials such as wood, concrete, fabric, metal, leather, plaster or glass. Regardless of all that expressivity, the overall impression is so timelessly harmonious that one has never seen enough of it even after years, but rather discovers new facets again and again, which spread a holiday feeling and bring the cheerfulness of Mediterranean regions into the private home - in the long term.

Besides the aesthetic qualities, the inner values and wearing properties are also convincing: Salina consists of high-quality, silky-matt glazed, frost-proof stoneware and thus is suitable for the wall and the floor (in private areas) and for indoor and outdoor application respectively. The use on wall a n d floor quite naturally results in a self-confident overall concept, but also the partial use on wall o r floor already has a room-defining effect. As corresponding complement, mono-coloured tiles with discreetly noble, silky-matt surface in three neutral colours (white, beige, grey) and the matching format of 20 x 20 centimetres are available.

The motif and the mono-coloured tiles of the new collection are provided with the HT (“Hydrophilic Tiles“) coating already ex factory. This innovative solution is based on the effect of light and lends ceramic tiles revolutionary characteristics: they are extremely easy to clean, have an antibacterial effect without using chemical products and eliminate unwelcome odours as well as air pollutants. Thus, HT saves time and money and contributes to environmental protection thanks to the considerably reduced use of cleaning agents and disinfectants.

Salina meets the still increasing trend towards combining different patterns in a modern way and at the same time offers the possibility of creating lasting values far beyond any randomness.

The source of inspiration for the decoration Salina of the series Jasba-Pattern was the isle of the same name of the Liparic Islands in front of the north coast of Sicily. The new creation reflects the pottery and ceramic art there and is in line with the still increasing trend towards pattern mix, which - despite its expressivity - is impressive because of a timelessly harmonious look at the same time.
