The immemorial knowledge of the vital force of the olive tree characterizes the brand identity of Oliveda, a manufacturer of high-tech natural cosmetics. In the Flagship Store at Düsseldorf, the intention is to make this brand value perceivable. The company and the interior designer decided on natural materials, a colour concept in which the black olive as main ingredient of the products plays an important part as well as on discreet associations with a laboratory environment. Ceramic tiles full of character from the classic tunnel kiln underline this concept, because they embody originality, authenticity and materiality.
For the Oliveda Flagship Store at Düsseldorf, a concept was realized which is inspired by the core elements of the brand history. The panelled ceiling and the cash desk made of birchwood create a close to nature atmosphere and represent the structure of the tree house in which the first elixir of Oliveda was developed in 2001 under the Andalusian sun. Black wall and floor tiles as special production within the series Craft of Agrob Buchtal as well as the washbasin made of zinc are reminiscent of a laboratory environment and pick up the subject “Olive Tree Pharmacy“, as the label describes its stores. An important aspect also was the special “colour world” that could be created on the wall and the floor with the tiles of Agrob Buchtal.
With the main ingredient of the products in mind, the colour of the black olive characterizes the interior design. Black racks serve as platform for the presentation of the products and create - in combination with the black wall and floor tiles - an attractive contrast to the olive tree plants in and in front of the store.
Traditional craftsmanship for unique tiles
Today, most ceramic tiles are produced in horizontal position (lying) by quick firing in the roller-type kiln. In contrast to that, the series Craft is manufactured in vertical position (upright) by long-time firing in the classic tunnel kiln. Clays containing iron oxide develop their special character thanks to a sophisticated firing process control. By the interaction of the material and the natural play of the fire, each tile becomes a unique piece.
Split tiles of the series Craft of Agrob Buchtal in the size of 12.5 x 12.5 centimetres, special production in the colour black. 60 square metres in total for the design of floor, walls and presentation counter.
